"Ab ittar (Perfume) bhi maliye to mohabat ki boo nahin
Wo din hawaa huwey jab pasina gulab tha"
The movie by Shyam Benegal is an attempt to glorify the importance of 'Rivaayaten' {Tradition} ...the words r not something to be lost in beeps of SMS...words written by your fingers, through a pen, with an ink of emotions, on a white paper, uniting the seven colored vagabondian words....they are not to be diffused in pride of 'wireless'.....It is not so easy job to write a letter....wrench ur heart..takes quite an effort!
Shreyas talpade seems quite comfortable role...the hero of common man....say Amol palekar of yesteryears...Amrita rao...as usual....amazing :)
One thing the movie lacks....it lacks the cheapness to be showcased in multiplex...where the ' seeming 'shining Indians' (an identity far from realism of Bharat)...the YO* dude yougsters....chatter bluff...
No wonder, we have lost the villages, sunshine, innocence of the weaker section....we have slowly n cleverly replaced them by NRI Colloseums, white balancing and Hindlish masala gossiping 'Literati'....
What is best is that the movie easily brings out few complex issues in a comic way....child widow, sterile democratic representatives, pain of an Unskilled labourer in mumbai, selling his kidney, Silent pray of a wife, the satire on SEZs...all in a simple language...no big words or dialogues needed to portray the reality...simple words picked from day to day lives...no fantasy...None other than Yashpal sharma could have acted the role of a north-indian goon...class acting by all ..
the songs " chalke palkon ke peeche chalke tanha aansu koi...." and "sang tihaare chalte jaayen...manzil aaye ya na aaye" are nice ones...
Even after such "simply the best" genre from Shyam benegal...i do listen someone says....."ifs and buts"...If,what they dont like is simplicity and they appreciate solely complex reincarnation of SRKs in OSO..or argue that Characters lost an everlasting impression...well then i think the same people would agree then that "India would have been ten times better 'IF' Britishers had ruled here till 2000...isnt it?"...or say.."I would have been fairer, if my father was from Britain...."
Now something i dont like about the Bolly-movies....did u ever noticed that the tone of indian actors are less modulated....else they are critisized for being overacting :)
i love tone-modulation....an accent free as breeze...sometimes violent..somrtimes calm....
Overall, an excellent movie....straight from the heart of a Giant....watch only if you havent lost the feel of being a contryside boy... if you dont feel uncomfortable at the obvious india...err....Bharat......dont mind.... :)
(* "Yo dude" is a term used for the confused wanna-be individual and is a hybrid of "yo" and "dude" . This individual is typically someone who have an impulsive need of artificiality...pseudo- intellectualism... someone trying to emulate a sense of cool... socially dis-illusioned & insoluble, they try to sound extra-urban ...)
